I've found Grid Contras intriguing and have written some programs to explore
them. I've put a link to snapshots of your dance below.
I'm assuming the formation for your dance is improper, otherwise dancers get
separated from the partners in A1. I think that the top left and bottom right
couples will be the ones that spit in and out every other time. In general
couples progress on diagonals from bottom left to top right, so couples close to
the top left and bottom right
are spit out more frequently than those far away.

Notes:
*When the initial spin puts you facing a wall, do a CA twirl to face back in.
Just an observation here. If the spin puts the dancers facing a wall, they
will (in MWSD
terminolgy) be half sashayed, i.e. Lady will be on left of Gent. So I'm not
sure how
dancers handle a California Twirl, however no matter how they face back in A2
will fix it up.
The obvious fix for this would be to make it double progression (while single
transgression). One simple solution would be:
B2: Long lines forward and back; with the couple on the left diagonal, circle
left 3/4, pass through up and down
The double progression version will still have similar problems.
Kim’s Game (4 face 4) by Colin Hume uses a similar idea with two parallel
contra lines and a progression between the lines. His dance has some couples
moving similar to a usual 4x4, while
other couples flip back and forth between two positions, however everyone is
meeting new
neighbors each time. His dance could easily be adapted to more than 2 parallel
lines.
Here is a dance I wrote that avoids the simple transgression of passing thru two
lines, by observing that parallel improper lines up and down, can be viewed as
parallel becket lines across the hall.

Formation: 4 face 4 viewed as two side by side improper lines
Alternate Formation: grid contra of any number of side by side improper lines of
same length
note: improper lines must be close together.
note: unusual progression with flippers and movers
A1 Lines of 4 pass thru, (new) Neighbor Dosido and Swing
A2 Gents Left Allemand 1 1/2; Partner Swing
B1 Circle left 3/4, (lines of 4) Forward and Back
B2 (in oval) Balance and Petronella twirl 2x
A1-B1 like usual improper contra B2 rotates the oval ccw. Couples coming off do
usual CaTw to face back in. Inspired by Kim's game. LH couples move as normal,
others are flippers who move back and forth but meet new neighbors
