I've actually had good luck by taking some of the early chestnuts that were
done in triple minor formation and tweaking them a bit into triplets. I call at
events put on by the National Park Service with a core group of reenactors in
historic dress. Members of the general public join in as they wish, so the
make-up on the floor is quite varied. Instead of the top couple casting off one
place, I have them cast to the bottom of the triplet. I also tend to convert
the right & left thrus into circle left/circle right, or a two-hand turn with
partner.
