with all due respect, I disagree here.
- svn revision numbers are good for developers perspective: it is an  
exact image of the source code. But I wonder how end users, admins,  
etc... will like to load the 6348503 version of CW. Does not look  
great to me.
- again, version numbers give users (our customers of our code) an  
easy reference point. it gives them a way to know:
  + which version is earlier, after another one, based on something....
  + with X.Y.Z proposed before, will enable users to keep on the same  
branch and only update for security/minor bug fixes, which gives them  
stability for config and confort to put a new version into test and  
prod.

all of this is not possible with a fancy name and svn version number.
