Boang Thom,

Whether or not you addressed your post in reply to me, I like to
respond to you.

I absolutely agree with you on the aspect of the flattering courtship
for one's superiors of the Cambodian culture, at least the ones during
the Sihanouk & Lon Nol eras, which I experienced myself first hand.
Even when I was a teenager in Cambodia, I kind of had a feeling of
rebellion against courtships. I would have been a communist or at
least a socialist had there not been the advent of the Khmer Rouge's
genocide of the Cambodian people.

As for why the Cambodian people elected the CPP, does it ever cross
your mind that perhaps thye're smart enough to realize that it's the
least of many evils??

From hear-says, it seems that the culture of courtship is still
practiced today in Cambodia. However I feel somewhat uncomfortable &
thus reluctant to emphasize to you that my previous post was about an
individual's right to join whatever political party he/she wishes to
join & about a people's right to elect whatever political party they
wish to elect, not about courtship.

Btw, I'm sorry to draw your attention to the following fact. Your
Khmer-language addressing:

"neh nee-ak tee-ang orss khnea"

isn't very polite, in the context of the Khmer language.

Please treat that as a friendly reminder.

Soriya
