Cambodia bans Chinese powdered baby milk

Phnom Penh - Cambodia joined a growing list of countries that have banned
Chinese milk powder and stepped up inspections, a senior official said Tuesday.
Secretary of State for the Commerce Ministry Chan Nora said Cambodia's quality
control bureau also ramped up testing of imported products.
'We need to protect the public. This applies to all products - not just Chinese
goods. We have stepped up inspections,' he said.
China is a major donor and close ally of Cambodia, and Nora stressed the
crackdown was not aimed at any one country.
However Cambodia's endemic corruption, poor border control and poverty has made
it a notorious dumping ground for unscrupulous traders of defective products in
the past, including chicken suspected to be infected with bird flu and even
toxic waste.
Cambodian authorities are concerned that contaminated milk powder might be
repackaged and sold in poorer markets such as their own.
Chinese officials acknowledged last week that melamine, a chemical that causes
kidney-related diseases, was present in milk processed by three major Chinese
dairy companies.

China Finds Chemical in Liquid Milk as Scandal Grows (Update2) By Lee Spears
Sept. 19 (Bloomberg) -- China has found the toxic chemical melamine in liquid
milk and yogurt from the nation's biggest producers, broadening a scandal in
the country's $19 billion dairy industry. Batches made by China Mengniu Dairy
Co., Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co. and Bright Dairy & Food Co., the
country's top three dairy producers by value, contained melamine, the Chinese
quality watchdog said, adding to a list of infant formulas already known to be
tainted. The discovery of melamine, used to make plastics and tan leather, in
additional dairy products raises more questions about how many consumers in
China have been exposed to the chemical, which has been linked to kidney
failure in babies leading to at least four deaths. Starbucks Corp., the world's
biggest coffee- shop chain, today said it has stopped using milk made by
Mengniu. ``Our family doesn't drink milk now -- we don't dare,'' 32- year-old
Li Cui said today at Beijing's Capital Institute of Pediatrics, where she took
her 4-year-old son for a health check because he had been drinking Mengniu and

state TV BEIJING (AFP) - - A chemical blamed for killing two infants in China
has now been found in 69 brands of baby formula nationwide, state television
said Tuesday, in an apparent dramatic escalation of the scandal.The government
has ordered a halt to the sale of the 69 milk powder brands tainted with the
chemical melamine, said the report by state-run CCTV, adding the products were
made by 22 different companies spread across China.Tainted milk powder has
sickened more than 1,200 infants so far across several provinces in a scandal
that erupted last week but had originally focused solely on the Sanlu brand.
CONCERNING CAMBODIA ?
CHINA continues to deal with the CPP/Hun Sen/Heng Samrin/Hok Lundi regime as
if China does not know that Vietnam continues to occupy Cambodia from 1978-2008
through this regime imposed by Pham Van Dong's troops of invasion. CHINA had
bribed King Sihanouk for a small prize, ONE HOUSE IN BEIJING, FREE
HEALTH/WEALTH /CARE IN CHINA through PM Chou Enlai /Mao Tse Toung at Bandoeung
in April 1955 in exchange for the Khmer leader to adopt an ANTI AMERICA
POSITION and abandon the Neutrality of Cambodia in order to allow and support
the North Vietnamese troops and VC on th soil of Cambodia in their struggle in
the war in vietnam. CHINA has abandoned King Sihanouk in 1969-1970's and
steered the China direction to warm the relations with America Chou
Enlai-Kissinger 1969-1970's , the same Chou Enlai who pushed Sihanouk to be
anti america....? .
The Chinese investors and Vietnamese invaders are thieves and have destroyed
the country, the Khmer Culture with their culture of using : drug , heroin,
drinking alcohol ,prostitution, sex with children under 18 years old (Mao Tse
Toung 's Daoism ), gambling, smuggling of all products, land grabbing, bribery,
corruption of Cambodian Officials, racial discrimination...thus they are
inflicting a permanent suffering to the entire Cambodian population with no
end. The Chinese culture have transformed in 10 years 1993-2006 the Cambodian
society in this evil way: - 100 000 cambodian girls under age are victims and
are prostitutes of the Chinese sex industry producing 120 000 victims , as
aid/hiv diseases - 200 000 Cambodian men,women,children sold as slaves, beggars
, human organ, forced prostitutes (180 000 ) to Thailand, and 20 000 to
Malaysia & abroad. - The 300 Chinese garment factories in Kandal and Phnom Penh
employ 270 000 illegal Vietnamese settlers ..... -Malay Chinese and other have
destroyed Cambodian forest with illegal loggings -Thai Chinese have promoted
the consumption of Heroin, amphetamine Yama-Yaba through the Teng Bunma group
and other ...... -The Communist Chinese have destroyed Cambodia with bribery to
