Hello Chetrasena, I didn't mean the Thai language was derived from the Vietnamese language or vice versa. I meant they're both tonic languages, while our Khmer language is not a tonic language. I don't know whether or not the Thai language was derived from the Khmer language. I know that both languages have many words that are derived from Pali or Sanscrit & thus sound similar.
I disagree with you on the opinion about the Vietnamese alphabet that was changed from Coq Ngeu or Kok Ngeu or whatever to Latin by a foreigner who tried to proselytize the Vietnamese to Catholicism. I don't admire that event. The traditional Vietnamese alphabet was destroyed by it. I don't promote hatred & divisiveness between Khmers & Vietnamese. I've never done so. Au contraire here in CamDisc in the past I said several times that hatred against the Vietnamese doesn't lead Khmers to anywhere, that in the past the Vietnamese were bad to the Khmers & the Khmers were bad to the Vietnamese. I didn't ask anybody to love the Vietnamese, I only asked them to at least hide their hatred, so that the international community may take our side if we're in conflict with Vietnam, & that's what we need now because now we're smaller & weaker than Vietnam militarily. And just for that opinion I got insults & mockeries from the haters here in CamDisc. Hatred leads to more hatred. Many of the haters here in CamDisc also hate the mixed-raced Khmer-plus-Chinese-or-Vietnamese-or-all-3 Cambodians!! Also, if the Khmers hate the Vietnamese, then the Vietnamese hate the Khmers, then the Khmers hate the Vietnamese more, then the Vietnamese hate the Khmers more, etc, & the cycle would never end. This aspect can't be good. We must try to live in peace with neighbors. If we want to stop the illegal Vietnamese immigration to Cambodia, we must discuss it with the Cambodian government, we shouldn't throw racial curses towards those immigrants, as they only want to move to & live where they believe thay can have a better life, just like the Khmers who live overseas. If we want our lands back from Vietnam or Thailand, we must first build our military to the point of it being strong enough to challenge Vietnam or Thailand. I agree with you that we have only ourselves to blame for many of our miseries. Some people in here blame the genocide on Vietnam. When I said that it was absolutely illogical, highly improbable, & virtually impossible that the Khmer Rouge followed the order of Vietnam to commit the genocide against their own Cambodian people, the haters here in CamDisc came en masse to insult & mock me. This is an example of hatred blinding the eyes from seeing logic & rationality.
