Hi Lok Savun,

Many people (including me) have a hard time swallowing/believing the
"explanation" that Prince Sihanouk knew nothing about the killings and was a
victim of Pol Pot.

He was siding with the Vietcongs, the Vietnamese and the Khmer Rouge for
many years, how was it possible that he didn't know?

I think Sam Raingsy should have left 18 March alone, unless his intention
was to placate the King and Hun Sen.

Tim, and Sophal:

This is irresponsible from the left, (LEFT-WINGER) and their agenda. The
Vietnam War was start September 26, 1959, it’s got into a full swing when
John Kennedy as president of United States up 1963. Between 1963–1969 Lyndon
B. Johnson expands the war more affective, then Richard Nixon.
All three U.S presidents had dealing with Norodom Sihanouk, not to
secretly deal with North Vietnam to allow the Vietcong reside in Cambodia
territories and be neutral, don’t join with his communist hardcore radical
left-wing, but instead Norodon Sihanouk signed agreement in 1968 with other 29
countries as allies to fight the War with the U.S.
By the time the radical left-winger ideology was spreading to control the
world and including Asia, which Cambodia is one of them.
March 18th, 1970, Cambodia has no choice, but to overthrow Norodom
Sihanouk by the Royalist, Lon Nol, which backed by U.S.
Norodom Sihanouk should on Tribunal trial, too. He was Khmer Rouge head of
state from 1975 to 1976. and Sam Rainsy himself should remember his letter
to Norodom Sihanouk, which he was supporting Norodom Sihanouk as Khmer
Rouge head of Sate.
Regards,

Savun

Sokphal,

I agree.

Nearly all people in my village became Khmer Rouge (Khmer Rumdoss) because
of Samdech Euv's appeal. They were glued to the radio listening to prince
Sihanouk speeches from Peking.

The prince had a choice to ask the people to help fight the Vietcongs and
the North Vietnamese but he chose to help them instead. Many people said
that his action was justifiable because Lon Nol and Cambodian leaders should
not depose him, therefore he had the right to fight to regain his power.

Honoring 23 October is understandable, but blaming 18 March for the event
that led to KR atrocity is a bit too strange.

History is rewritten again.
Sam Rainsy is dishonest to blame the event of 18 March for starting
Cambodian civil war.
March 12, 1970, Khmer government attempted to defend Khmer territorial
integrity by asking the Vietcong with approximately 40,000 troops on
the border to vacate all their sanctuaries from Cambodian soil.
Instead Vietnam launched an offensive and quickly seizing large
portions of the eastern and northeastern parts of the country,
isolating and besieging or overrunning a number of Cambodian cities
including Kampong Cham. The US took action to support "the only
government in Cambodia in the last twenty-five years that had the guts
to take a pro-Western stand." Vietnam war was spilled over to
Cambodia.
Lon Noliens has no choice but to defend the country from the foreign
“tamil” invader.
Vietnam troupe only withdrew after the Paris Peace Accord in 1973.
Civil war was made it possible by Sihanouk who lent his name and
popularity in the rural areas of Cambodia to a Khmer Rouge movement
over which he had little control.
