This is what happened. After graduating with an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison two weeks earlier, their son came home for a short visit. He had lunch with his dad, and then decided to go back to clean-up his room at school. His father asked him to wait and see his mother before he went back to school. He took his laptop and went into his bedroom at home. After surfing for a while, he decided to take a nap while he waited for his mom to come home from work. Neighbors called 911 when they saw black smoke coming out of the house.* *The 25 year old son died in the fire. * *It took several days of investigation to find out the cause of the fire. It was determined that the fire was caused by the laptop on the bed. When the laptop was on the bed, the cooling fan did not get air to cool the computer -- it over-heated and caused the fire. Their son did not even wake-up, he died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The reason I'm writing this is to warn you of the use of our laptops in bed.
