I've met a Khmer Republic army soldier here. He was a farmer from Siem Reap and 
was only 17 years old 
when he joined the army(1970). I am not sure that he'd studied the viet and 
khmer history since he barely can
read/write Khmer. In the other hand, Pen Sovan, Hou Yun, Hu Nim and those who 
sided with Hanoi/VC
were well aware of the Viet/Khmer history, especially Ho's plan for IndoChinese 
federation. Personal
greed or interest will always take priority over Viet/Khmer history. 
Their(later ones) mentality is
 "Whatever it takes".

ខ្ញុំបាទសង្កេត​ឃើញថាខ្មែរយើងមិនសូវបានស្គាល់សាសន៍យួននេះច្បាស់លាស់ទេ ។​ 
ខ្មែរយើងតិចណាស់ បានស្គាល់អំពី​សាវតា ដើមកំណើត ភូមិសាស្រ្ដ ជាតិពិន្ធុ វប្បធម៌ 
ប្រពៃណីយ៍ និង ទំនៀមទម្លាប់ របស់ពួកសាសន៍យួននេះ ។ មិន​ត្រឹមតែសាសន៍យួននេះទេ 
សូម្បីតែសាសន៍សៀម និង លាវ
 ក៏ខ្មែរយើងស្គាល់ពួកនេះមិនច្បាស់លាស់ដែរ ។ 
កាលណាខ្មែរយើងមិនស្គាល់ពពួកសាសន៍អស់នេះច្បាស់លាស់ 
ខ្មែរយើងក៏មិនអាចទំនាក់ទំនងនិងពពួកសាសន៍​អស់​​នេះ ​​​ប្រកបដោយប្រសិទ្ធភាពឡើយ ។ 
ហេតុដូច្នោះ ខ្មែរយើងតែងទទួលរងគ្រោះខាតបង់គ្រប់ពេល 
ដោយ​យើង​​មិន​សូវបានសិក្សាឲ្យស្គាល់ច្បាស់អំពីសាសន៍អស់នេះ ។
            រាល់ពេលនិយាយអំពីសាសន៍យួន 
ខ្មែរយើងឥតសូវនិយាយអំពីចារឹតលក្ខណៈពិតរបស់សាសន៍នេះទេ ផ្ទុយទៅវិញខ្មែរយើងភាគច្រើន 
ចូលចិត្តតែនិយាយជាបែបត្មះតិះដៀលទៅវិញ ដូចជានិយាយថាយួនវាអាក្រក់​ណាស់ ព្រោះវាជាចោរ 
ជាមនុស្សទុច្ចរឹតអីជាដើម ម្លោះហើយខ្មែរយើងមិនអាចទប់ទល់ដោះ​ស្រាយជា​មួយយួន​បានឡើយ 
គឺខ្មែរយើងចាញ់យួនរហូតមក ។
 អវិជ្ជាអំពីសាសន៍ជិតខាងបានធ្វើឲ្យខ្មែរបរាជ័យ ដួលរលំ រួញតូច 
ចុះអោន​ថយជាលំដាប់រហូតសព្វថ្ងៃ ។ ប៉ុណ្ណឹងហើយ ក៏ខ្មែរយើងនៅតែចចេសរឹងរូស 
​មិនព្រមពិចារណា ទទួល​ដឹងអំពី​ចំណុចខ្សោយរបស់ផងយើងទេ ។ ខ្មែរយើងចូលចិត្តមើលស្រាល 
អាងតែខឹងសម្បារ អាងតែធ្វើអ្វីមួយ​ដោយមិនព្រម​សិក្សា​ឲ្យ​ច្បាស់លាស់សិន 
មិនព្រមប្រុងប្រៀបខ្លួន មិនព្រមមានគំរោងការច្បាស់លាស់
 និងមិនចេះ​លាក់ការណ៍អ្វីឡើយ ។
            ខ្ញុំបាទសង្កេតឃើញថាយួនមិនមែនជាសាសន៍ខ្លាំងពូកែអីហួសហេតុនោះទេ ។ 
ដែលយួនរំលោភឈ្លាន​ពានមកលើខ្មែរយើងបាន ពីព្រោះខ្មែរយើងខ្សោយ ។ 
ហើយខ្មែរយើងដែលខ្សោយនេះ មិនមែនជាកំសោយ​ធម្មជាតិនោះទេ 
គឺខ្មែរយើងធ្លាក់ខ្លួនខ្សោយដោយសារយើងមិនទទួលសិក្សាអំពីចំណុចខ្វះខាតរបស់យើង 
ហើយ​យើងក៏ប្រញាប់យកកំហឹងទៅទល់កំហល់ ។ ដូច្នេះ យើងអាចកែប្រែបាន ។
 យើងអាចពង្រីកពង្រឹងបាន ។ យើង​អាចទប់ទល់សាសន៍យួនបាន និង អាចការពារប្រទេសជាតិយើងបាន 
។ 
            ចំណុចចាប់ផ្ដើមគឺខ្មែរយើងត្រូវខិតខំផ្លាស់ប្ដូរសតិអារម្មណ៍ និង 
ឥរិយាបទល្ងង់ក្លៅ អួតអាង កំហឹងទល់​កំហល់នេះចេញ​ រួចហើយចាប់ខិតខំសិក្សារៀនសូត្រ 
ខំរកវិធីសាស្រ្ដដោះស្រាយ និង ខំសន្សំរាល់ចំណេះដឹង ធនធាន ខ្លឹមសារ កម្លាំង និង 
មិត្តភ័ក្ដិ ដើម្បីយកជ័យជំនះឲ្យបាន ។ កិច្ចការផ្លាស់ប្ដូរនេះ 
ជាកិច្ចការសែនលំបាក​ខ្លាំងណាស់ តែវាជាកិច្ចការត្រូវធ្វើ ។
 យើងបណ្ដែតបណ្ដោយឲ្យខ្លួនយើងធ្លាក់ដុនដាបថ្នាក់នេះ 
មិនងាយ​នឹងយើង​ស្រោចស្រង់បានភ្លាមៗនោះទេ តែយើងពិតជាអាចធ្វើបាន 
ពិតជាអាចយកជ័យជំនះបាន ពិតជាការពារប្រទេស​ជាតិយើងបាន ព្រោះសាសន៍យួនក៏មានចំណុចខ្សោយ 
ក៏មានបញ្ហារបស់វា មិនមែនវាខ្លាំងក្លារហូតនោះទេ ហើយ​វាក៏មិនមែនជាសាសន៍កំរោល
