An old Omega instruction book I have suggests that if you are using a Taking 
lens for enlarging that it be a normal speed lens (probably f/4.5 to 6.3--3 
or 4 element) rather than a high speed lens.  Suspect that a macro lens 
would also work quite well.  Consider also that G-Clarons, some Dagors, etc. 
were originally developed for repro or process work and optimized for closer 
working distances.  That could get you buy until the bnk approves the loan 
of a new Apo-Schneider 400mm enlarger lens for your made-from-scratch 8x10 
enlarger.

HOWEVER--I was always told to do it the other way in large format work, 
taking or printing, put all your money into the lenses, the rest is just a 
fancied up box.
