for 4x5 and some 8x10 i used to use beutler's formula, a high acutance 
developer.
it was cheap, and i liked the way the bromides built up along the 
highlights giving
the negative some snap.  it's a two solution formula and can be found in 
many places
on the web.

when pmk came out i switched to that.  it takes a while to get used to pyro 
negs,
but they do print nice... tho long under the lights.  i just ordered 
rollo-pmk to try
some experiments.

all negs today are 8x10 and 11x14.
