[Cameramakers] Base for tripod

I need a piece of metal of about 1/8" thick, 10-12" square with a 
3/8" female thread, to serve as the tripod base on a very large 
camera (about 35 lbs). Is there anything available commercially like 
this? Any ideas about fabricating one?
