I assume this is what is called a "bag-mag" - a magazine with a leather snood at one end to manipulate the septii. To open, hold the magazine in the right hand with the window flap facing you. At the left end, in the middle, is a leather covered button. Press it. The magazine will pop open. From there on in - its all downhill.
