I REALLY like this feature. In fact I like it so much that I can't stand other browsers that don't have it. What a pain. Type-ahead find is great.
I've been bitten by it SO many times when I want to type text into a field but end up hilighting a match instead. This is one feature that needs to be dead & buried as soon as possible. It's just plain BAD user interface.
You do realize that the alternative is that you start typing ... and nothing happens.
If you are actually selected in a text box, type-ahead find is disabled. So, you must not have been.
