About the Davis lite...its a clever design, and I use them too.
In fact I took a pair of them along with me "just in case" when
I sailed a charter boat last fall.

But my experience is that they are not very reliable....which is
why I use two rather than one.  Bulb life is fairly short and
the circuit does not include a backup bulb installed. I have
also had one where the electric eye circuitry suddenly failed so
that it would not turn on at all. Not much you can do about that
but pitch it.

Does anyone else use their Davis Mega Lite in pairs?

a bungie stretched between the lowers and the mast and plug it
