Oh I see, I didnt know they used an aluminum table. Just curious, What can be done on
a sherline? I've often thought about retrofitting one for at home to sit on a table
next to my desk enclosed in plexiglas just to play with. Run it right off of my home
desktop. Maybe even find some plans and build the drives myself just to learn more
about them. What is the best small desktop mill available? What size cutters can they
pull? What types of material?
You mention anodizing. If anyone is interested, anodizing aluminum is very cheap and
easy to do and is marginally safe to perform. Google "home anodizing". All you need is
a car battery charger, battery acid and some Rit dye. Oh and a wife who doesnt mind if
you make a mess in the kitchen or potentially blow the house up..lol Kidding, the
acid/battery charger part needs to be done outside but the dyeing portion can be done
right on a stove top. I've anodized a few things just to experiment and it worked
quite well. Alot cheaper than having it done. I got a quote for part of a fixture to
be gold anodized and they wanted over a hundred dollars to do it. It was a small part
actually. I could've done it for a few dollars had I known at the time.
