I don't really like that the camping.db is hidden somewhere e.g.
should be in the home directory but is not.
It doesn't have to be. You could include setting the path in your

My feeling is that perhaps this example is more for people familiar
with rails or the whole active record system.
I agree that a 'pure' Camping approach is best - people are coming
from other backgrounds. And (as you probably know) Camping can use
other ORMs and/or DBs:
