Day - Wednesday
Start - Napton Bridge Inn
End - Napton Top Lock.
We pushed off about 8-30 which turned out to be a good move. Just before
the winding hole at the Folly a hire boat was about to push off but let
us pass them before letting go. They enquired if we were stopping to
take water, which we were, as they also needed water. I told them there
were two taps available and they pulled in behind us. I could pour water
from the kettle faster than it was coming out of the tap so we gave up
on that idea, as we packed away the hose after taking less than 5
gallons so did the boat behind and they then followed us to the lock. We
met one or two boats coming down the locks, the last one being at Napton
Top so we went all the way up before unloading the boat and loading the
car, then Diana gave the boat a good sweep out, all before the hire boat
that was right behind us at the bottom showed up. As we watched them
exit the top lock the reason was fairly obvious as they moored the boat
while they closed the lock to load up the crew. after unmooring they
then snaked up the canal towards the engine arm where they said they
intended to turn, the stopped and moored again and then set off towards
Marston Doles going from side to side.
We put Harnser to bed and headed back to Suffolk.
