Date - 5 July Day - Wednesday Start - Sutton Stop End - Brinklow After last nights storm things cooled down a bit overnight and we woke to a fine sunny morning, but it didn't last. We pushed off at 10 am and within minutes the thunder started and about 5 minutes later the rain came down. We went through Sutton Stop and turned left foe Coventry, its quite a few years since we had been this way. There seemed to be more boats about this time and we met three on our way to the basin plus quite a few in the area of the pub. The rain lasted an hour and then the sun was back out. The only time I had a fouled prop was in the last bridge hole before the basin which was cleared easily with a burst of reverse. I checked the prop in the basin before returning and it was completely clean. In the basin I was met by one of the "Urban Rangers" who gave me a welcome pack and stopped for a chat. He told me that they clear the rubbish every week by boat, but as their boat had been out of action until last month they were still trying to get back on top of it. He also said that the basin had been packed a couple of weeks back, so much so that boats had problems turning in the widest part of the basin to get back out. On our return journey we met three boat heading for an overnight in the basin and two of them we knew. The water is nowhere as clear as last time we visited so the plant growth has not been so bad. About a mile from Sutton Stop it started raining again so we pulled over on the mooring rings and stopped for lunch.after lunch the rain eased to an annoying drizzle and we pushed on to Brinklow woods where we moored for the night at 6 pm.
