Day 21 - Friday 14th July 2006

Half past five in the morning! That's right 05:30 was when the first boat
passed us. Do these people not have a life! With the shallow edge the boat
crunched for ages afterwards, and then more came during the morning, finally
I gave up at 09:00.

We got off after a lull in the traffic at about 11:00 - just nicely in front
of a Viking Afloat boat. We had a good run up the locks, doing them in 30
minutes, and a sunny if windy run to Shebdon Embankment, where there are
some nice moorings. Dad went for a bike ride, while I watched TV.

We set of again at 14:20, stopping at Norbury (15:40) quickly for an ice
cream, and a look around the chandlery - diesel at 46.9ppl here.

We finally reached Wheaton Aston by 18:45, and decided to go to the Hartley
Arms for tea. I had Poachers Chicken which was excellent, and Dad had the
mixed grill, and was actually filled for a change. I noticed that there was
a fair ground on in the field just down the lane, part of Wheaton Aston
Carnaval.
