So far as I understand it in November this year the requirement for
marine VHF radio operators to be licenced ceases to apply. I did find a
document somewhere on the web about that but it has gone awol on the
pc.
That means no training required, though a compact written set of "radio
rules" would be useful. I bought a handheld set early in the year and
have spent 99% of the time listening and picking up the protocols and
conventions (whatever the difference might be !)
