While designed to save water, it is possible to also use side pounds to speed up operations. Goole's ocean lock, which is 100m by 24m, empties in only a few minutes. Trent locks tend to be quite quick, although the lock keepers often fill them slowly for pleasure traffic. Best out of hours, when you can lift all the paddles straight up! I suspect there are very few locks that actually take 20 minutes, however if there is a queue, or the lock has to be turned, or the crew is inexperienced...
