As sean says, this would not be possable due to the gauge restiction on 
the narrowcanals.
 - And as he also says, theres very little point, as the railways 
almost always run parrellel with the canal anyway!

This is also the reason why its not possable to use standard cargo-
containers for canal freight.
 - A cargo-container is 8ft wide, a narrowcanal is only 7ft. And even 
on a wide canal, this would be a very wastefull use of the space.
