There are many dry docks still in use. We usally dock at worsley, which has two double dry docks. As the others have said, there are also boatlifts/cranes in use. As well a slipways boats can be hauled up. Heres a photo of the slipway at tarleton, which has a trolley on a track, winched up by a small winch. (actally a steam engine run off compressed air) http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=emilyanne058nm5.jpg Heres a photo of the boatlift at wincham baot yard, northwich. http://img96.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imgp2034xl9.jpg And heres a few photos of the dry dock at middlewich. - The plank on the right of the first picture are placed accross the entrance, and then the water is realsed down the canal. (the dock is half way up a flight of locks) http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2hr5.jpg http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1uu0.jpg Daniel Yahoo!
