Not directly.  But remember 2 ways of making CO
1. Badly burning appliance (directly makes CO).
2. Insufficient Ventilation (makes CO by virture of the fact that the CO2 
content of the input air is too high)

No.1 would not be seen, No.2 would be covered.
Often (not always), No.1 will give rise to some detectable odours due to 
poor burning of the odourant within the gas, whereas No.2 will usually be 
odourless.
