AIUI, under the anti money laundering rules, a bank (including an
internet bank) is not allowed in law to allow you to operate an account
without having proved a) your identity, and b) via a separate document,
your address. For many banking purposes this must be a UK address.
Credit reference agencies normally reduce your rating to zero if you
are NFA.
I'm surprised the charity concerned could allow you to become a
director, unless being a director is not the same as being a trustee of
the charity. Trustees are personally liable for the charities
compliance with Charity Commission accounting rules, and as it's hard
to sue someone who is NFA, again this wouold make it hard for you to be
acceptable to the CC and the auditors.

Not only that, it must be an address in the same delivery district as
the PO where you want your mail held.

I think most are like ourselves - we have an official address (our
daughter's) for legal purposes. We also borrow an address from another
member of this list for NHS purposes (I won't embarrass the chap by
identifying him here, but he's a good bloke) because the GP practice
concerned is very boater friendly, unlike our daughter's.
Best source of advice on all this stuff is the RBOA, IMHO
All the best
