Hi Everyone, I am trying to do a little bit of research into Marina's and boat yards, this is in regard to live aboards mainly but it would effect everyone present in the yard etc.
Does any yard/marina out there, switch off the electric and the water, to the boaters during the year. My present marina, is going to start this in January, and finish at the end off February when the yard is closed. The yard is open from 9.00hrs till 16:30hrs, during the week including Saturday and Sundays and during the winter (from Nov 1st to mar 31st) the yard is only open during the week but only Saturday's. (will the power and water be off over Sunday? need to be confirmed but at the moment yes) During the time the yard is closed, they will turn off power to the electric boxes and water to the taps down the yard. The other bit of news we have heard is, at the end of the present financail year end Lee Valley will ask us to sign new contracts which would then be a yearly, where at present when we first signed on that contract had stayed with us (until now). It has been suggested that this is the results of BW, wanting to take the marina back. (its leased to Lee Valley Parks). Its being hinted they want the Liveaboards off? We are talking about 4 boats in the water and another 5 on land even a very conservative guess is less than 5%. I don't think that BW is the reason is actually true and its a person in LV causing a stir. Not sure if all this is happening to the other LV yard (Springfilelds) which again being gentle I would say up to 80% liveboards (yes 80%) Before people say about liverboards, I pay my council tax, Im registered for voting, the others might not but I do. Any ideas? I know that part of the contract for Little Hallingbury was the boat had to be out of the marina for at least two weeks per year. _________________________________________________________________ Be the first to hear what's new at MSN - sign up to our free newsletters! http://www.msn.co.uk/newsletters
