Hi Niall,

I was lucky to get a ticket to go into the shipyard to see Lyme Bay
launch - the only ship I have ever see go down the slipway.

What an amazing sight. I've also got a book on the Queen Mary I , and
the section on launch dynamics is an amazing read - with details on
how they predict how far the ship would go - the load on different
parts of the hull as the stern floated and the bows were still on the
slip - and the extra strengthening structure built in for the launch
and then removed.
