As I drive only 1,000 miles a year to and from the boat in my small car this
road pricing does not really worry me. BUT I wonder if WHEN they impose the
increased tax the government will reveal, as they usually do, some sort of
extra charge to us who pay for all. It might be charge per vehicle for the
change plus a charge per year - a sort of road tax in fact. If, given their
current record such a thing is planned then I would prefer the current system
whose pitfalls we all know.
Incidentally, we, the peoples reactions to this and other proposed changes
are beautifully summed up by a certain Niccolo Machiavelli in one short
paragraph in 'The Prince' written in 1513.
