Just to compare, I decided to view the Castle Narrowboats base in Wales
(where I hired last May), with the satellite view. In this case, I found
that google maps provided a far sharper image than live.com. I also tried
multimap.com - that was the worst.

For anyone who wants to see for themselves:

- at maps.google.com, type "51.8243,-3.0989" (without the quotes),
then search, zoom in, and select the satellite view

- at local.live.com, select "Maps" near the top, enter "NP7 OEP, UK",
then search, zoom in, and select the Aerial view

Apparently, Microsoft Virtual Earth underlies the live.com site.

I'll try other locations, but this example shows that live.com is
not always the best. I tried a brief web search to see if I could
find a comparison of map sites for the UK, but failed to uncover
anything. If anyone knows of such a comparison, please pass it
along.
