Stnaground Lock (entrance to the ML) is worked by the Roothams. The will have to fill aform out to show where you moor and what Navigation body you come under. Ashline lock is boater owner operated (shrouded spindles) Marmont Priory Lock is supposedly boater operated (not locked up)...but you would be wise to sort out THE OWNER (she "bought" the derelict lock with their smallholding!) Mrs Norton, or fone ahead . She is worth meeting, knows all the ML business and is something out of another age (don't tell her I said that!) Phone Paul at Salters who will tell you when you can get across to Denver. Paul obviously works Salters as it is tidal. http://www.middlelevel.co.uk/pdfs/NavNotes2007.pdf All the details are in above. I KNOW you will fall in love with the ML (especially as you are and "old school" boater), so allow plenty of time to wander about, it may be flat...but it is like boating in the past. It will restore your faith in boating. Don't for get Ramsey Hollow Bridge on the 40ft has been raised. You don't really need the ML Yale key, unless you want water/san stn/pumpout at March. You do NOT need the key to get through Lodes End Lock - boater operated, shrouded spindles (if you wander off the direct route across) as it only locks up the security gates. On a boat you can bypass these! http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Tour_01/fensindex.html The whole Fens are here if you want to search... -- Neil Arlidge - NB Earnest - The Wilderness years...
