Did you mention manholes? Now we are in the world of relativity which asks 
that (and forgive the non-PC) ... If someone leaves a manhole cover off and a 
fat man running at near the speed of light passes over the hole would his 
reduction in size due to relativistic effects cause him to fall down the hole. 
The 'fat man problem' worked for me at college as just a mention and our tutor 
would talk of nothing else leaving us students nod off.

Yes, it's pathetic. Nobody is allowed to make mistakes these days, 
even if it's caused by their own stupidity. Children are protected 
from any risk whatsoever. How do human beings learn? By making 
mistakes and learning not to do the same thing again! I'm all for 
people not leaving manhole (oh sh!t, personhole<PC???!!!>) covers up, 
so that people cannot fall down them but taking all risk, however 
slight, out of life is not going to benefit mankind at all in the 
long run.
