The picture is classic damp wicking up the oak faced ply lining. Oak 
goes black, just like you've observed. It will be wicking up from the 
bottom, almost certainly. You need to get to the source of the 
problem asap, and if the panel backs onto the shower then you've 
almost certainly got a leak from there. Don't forget that, just like 
the similar mark on Albion, it need not necessarily be directly 
behind the mark. On Albion the water was leaking out of the (non-
sealed - thanks, Mr Boatbuilder) shower door cassette, running under 
the shower tray, and then emerging about 9ins back and wicking up the 
wood panel. Check very carefully all aspects of the shower tray, 
grouting and sealant betweent the shower walls and the shower tray. 
You may even need to stand in the tray to see if your weight is 
moving the tray and opening up a gap somewhere.
