What Bosely locks didn't have in the early 70's though was ladders - which was something of a problem single-handing in chambers so deep. I remember edging boats up to the front of the lock and climbing up the slimey, weed covered gates from the bow. I must have been totally mad. In those days there was very little traffic on the Macc and if ever there'd been an accident I could have lay undiscovered for days. Steve [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
