Sunday 10th June A leisurely morning spent putting all the removable things back on the roof and general tidying and log writing. We eventually left a 1pm, very warm sun shine. Very good overnight moorings. We turn left, having been waved through by the trip boat, LS Lowry. Nice to see a trip boat, means there will be no trouble from flying objects. We pass through some very tall apartment buildings, we wave at the inhabitants enjoying the afternoon sun from their balconies. The canal is wide and deep and we can get some speed up without creating wash. We are soon at Pomona lock and debate whether to go down onto the Manchester Ship Canal for a while. Time is pressing this trip, next time. We pass Manchester United FC, no noise means no match today. We are the only boat moving and the pace is quick, we reach 4.9 mph at one point. At the junction we turn left, avoiding the fishermen, staying with the Bridgewater canal. We pass a new estate with moorings and there are now more people about. A few ducks also, another good sign. I am starting to feel comfortable with the surroundings. This stretch is wide and straight. The Watch House Cruising club's members are out in force, there are boats, moving. At the Waterside area of Sale there are dozens of people enjoying the canal and it's pubs. It's lovely through here. Many using the canal facilities. Fisherpersons, cyclists, walkers, families, seems the world and his wife have decided to come here. Lots of waves and smiles, brilliant. Onwards and downwards so to speak, we soon reach countryside again, real countryside with views. Still loads of people. Just after Bollington there are at least 3, maybe more, boatyards and builders. New boats float, part finished boats float and are earthbound and a long section of what looks like a boat/vehicle graveyard. Seems out of place. Is this a BW dumping ground for unloved and abandoned boats? We now arrive at Lymm and more up just before the town. It's 5pm. Good mooring and we get right into the side. Good TV picture to boot. Smashing day.
