Relax. Be prepared for lunch breaks at locks. Try to arrange stops to coincide with market days. Don't assume the waterways guidebook is up to date when it comes to restaurants. Always have an emergency meal on board even if you're planning to eat out. I've only gone off season when it's normally very quiet, but June may be different. -- Nigel Stanley
