AFAICT this is the situation at Autherley Junction...
Napton Narrowboats have leased the old Water Travel site of BW. Because of
the vandalism and arson? in the area they have given permission to Napton
Narrowboats to block of the towpath, running through their site overnight.
This will consist of a grille and gate under the turnover bridge and across
the towpath at the other end of their site. This gate will be locked
overnight by a non standard key (not BW Watermate key). This end of the
Shroppie has recently be transferred to Wales and Border Counties, managed
by David Ballacchino (you know the guy that brought you pay-to-moor in
Llangollen). The proposed gates will not allow access for horses and
associated tow ropes and the stop lock will be marooned in the security
zone. There has been no consultation.
