LGVs over 7.5t GVW have been restricted to 56mph for yonks (can't remember exactly how many yonks but it's quite a lot of yonks! 1988 springs to mind for some reason). Coaches were required to fit limiters set at (IIRC) 60 mph a couple or three years or so back and LGV's twixt 3.5t and 7.5t GVW have recently been required to have limiters set to 56 on new vehicles and (I think) that goes retrospective in a couple of years or so The latests limiters not only restrict the engine speed, they can also apply the exhaust brake to slow the vehicle down on the overrun Bru
