The Drains are not that bad, we've never had any problems on them!  Unless you 
count headroom of course.  But then you offer a few locals a short trip on your 
boat.  Works every time.
   
  As for the Car Dyke according to one Archaeologist I spoke to the latest is 
that it was never built for boats but as a drainage channel.  Apparently they 
have even excavated some culvert type crossings on it.  It would be a definite 
first for Ernest then.
