Have you thought about the following:

A silent genset (which you could run on red deisel) that you could use
to keep a battery bank topped up, and then use an inverter to power
your 240v stuff. It will also produce hot water for you.

Both my boats (Shoestring, and Kismet) have largish inverters, and a
battery bank (about 330ah) which is enough for a day or two if you're
careful (12v electric fridge in both boats). I used to have a 240v
fridge in Shoestring (I still do, but it's just filling the gap in the
workunits at the moment :-), it flattened batteries very quickly, and
needed a high power inverter to cope with motor startup currents -
however with a continous charge this would not be to much of a
problem.

Not a cheap solution, but another avenue to look at.
