In a spirit of boating as traditionally / comfortably / sustainably as
possible (my boat has just the right combination of traditional features and
indoor plumbing) I ask the following questions:

1) Why does anybody NEED mains on a boat? I go boating to
get away from the 21st century and want NOTHING that won’t run on solid
fuel, diesel, Paraffin (Paraffin lamps can be used safely with care and
reduce the need for electricity. Primus stoves similarly for when the range
is out) , propane or 12 volts

2) Having said this I’ll immediately demonstrate total
hypocrisy by asking two questions:

a. Anyone have a source for decent 12 volt DAB radio / CD player
(mini-system rather than BoomBox)

b. Anyone care to share experience of using those USB cellphone dongles
for internet access (The £15 a month from T-Mobile offer looks attractive,
but will it work in a boat-shaped faraday cage?)
