The motor in the Danfos compressor used in most if not all 12 volt fridges has far more in common with a stepper motor than a conventional one. Danfos admit to a 38 amp starting current, but reading between the lines I suspect that for a few split seconds it is far higher than than t and probably over so fast it can not be easily measured. Hence the need to wire in cables that look ridiculously over large for any length of run. Never stint on 12v motor driven fridge cable sizes or you will come to regret it. Tony Brooks
