I use Orange with my 3G phone (N73) acting as a modem and find it excellent.
On my trip from Alrewas to Rickmansworth and back I managed to get acceptable
3g connections most days. I have the standard monthly 7pm to 7am on weekdays
and all weekend which costs me a £5/month and when I need to connect outside
of those times I call Orange and they give me an all day connection for an
extra £1.

I don't have any supplementary antenna and usually got a decent signal by
hanging the phone near a window.

When I was on the Wendover Arm I didn't get 3g but I still got an acceptable
connection by careful placement of the phone. It was interesting that someone
else there with Vodaphone connection got no data signal at all even in the open.

Cheers

Will
