Having moved back onto Bream over the past couple of weeks I puzzled
over this problem and have come up with a solution:

First I took a contract with one of the companies who offer a USB modem
(Vodafone in my case but 3 do the same one.) Then I bought a wireless
router which had 2 USB ports. I flashed the firmware with an alternative
Linux version that supports the modem and hey presto. I now have wi-fi
all over the boat and the modem and router are lost into a corner where
3G reception is pretty good. I may buy an external aerial for the USB
modem but I'll see how I get on without it first.

P.S. Yes, access point "NB Bream" is secured ;-)
