According to Google Earth the current end of the canal at Tewitfield is at:
54deg 09min 22sec north
whereas the end of the Ripon canal (probably just beyond navigation limit -
I've not been there) is at:
54deg 07min 47sec North
so the answer is Tewitfield by a whisker!

Well done that man, incidentally just moved away from the library computer to
watch the Queen's Fly-past go over the library, blimey--only seconds after
flying down the Mall--definitely has the [speed] edge on narrowboats!
