Hi Debbi Thanks for the comments and advice. The key thing here is that I will need to leave the boat unattended for 4 days. Shame about Limehouse mooring restrictions as that looked interesting. I do intend to explore rather than just passing straight through to Brentford as I've not been through the city since 1980! I will definitely have to take a look at the guide you mention.
We think that the oil leak has finally been fixed today so I will be on my way tomorrow or the day after. Basically as soon as I've finished loading/unloading various bits and the car has been dropped back at my Mum's house. I'm single handing and in no particular rush (which is just as well as wide locks on my own will be a new experience even though I've boated all my life) so the current plan is to take 4 or 5 weeks for the trip Acton Trussell - Fradley - Braunston - London - Oxford then via either BCN or the Coventry depending on time/energy to the Shroppie in time for the V Festival then the National.
