Vodafone supply the Huawei E272 HSPA USB modem, and the Mac driver for this seems sound enough.... Can you upgrade the E220? (and then use the Vodafone-supplied driver, or just try the Vodafone driver for the E220... :-)) -- Andy Greener n.b.
