Fortunately not all BW staff are presently engaged on bollard planting. This hasn't yet spread to the southern T&M (but no doubt time will tell). After my comments about Colwich lock last week I arrived there (northbound) on Tuesday afternoon to find no queue (and the lock in my favour). The ground paddle has been repaired and magically the lock filled at twice (or so it seemed) the normal rate. Are congratulations to BW for the repair work in order here? My return trip on Thursday (afternoon again) was equally speedy, with the only boat in front of me entering the lock as I was about 300 metres away, by the time I had tied up on the lock landing, that boat was leaving the lock and the crew of the waiting (to ascend) boat were manning the bottom gates in readiness for their passage. "If only always 't were so!" Arthur Naylor nb Roofpaintedatlast.
