Newark to Nottingham We didn't get away 'till quite late, about 10:30 IIRC after 4 lots of boats had locked through over the last few hours. I said to Dad we'll catch the last lock up for the next lock, and then another lockfull at the following. Another boat joined us in the lock, and asked where we were going, Nottingham was our reply, they said, "oh we'll follow you then", and I said "You can try." We lost them on Newark Dyke, we were going 4 mph...
In the end we ended up overtaking all the previous lockfulls on the first section to Hazelford. There was a bit of fresh on the river which slowed us down a little, but we finally reached Sainsburys in Nottingham at 6pm, were we promptly took a trip to McDonnalds for tea (via Carphone warehouse, I want to find some cheap way of getting highspeed mobile internet, and PC World as my mouse has packed up!). Orange - and Carphone Warehouse - have started doing the Sony Erricson W910i for £150 on pay and go, it has HSPDA but there was some confusion if the 3g Pay-And-Go sim would allow it's use. I tried to get in contact with Orange this morning (I'm writing a day behind), and spent nearly 10 minutes waiting on hold to find out. I gave up as it was costing me a fortune, and I'm slowly starting to get fed up with Orange.
