I would concur with what's already been said as I also have the Huawei E220 (on a £25+VAT unlimited use contract with Vodafone.) I connect mine to an Asus router to give me wi-fi throughout the boat in a way that I guess is similar to what is being done on coaches.
Coverage on my recent trip from the midlands down to London and up the Thames was excellent everywhere except for two moorings on the southern Oxford. In some locations I was getting connection speeds which compared favourably with ADSL. I've certainly watched things like the BBC iPlayer and YouTube videos without problems. Wandering slightly from the topic, the Asus router was an interesting purchase. I had to flash the firmware to get it working with the E220 and it is now running a version of Linux. I've spent the past couple of evenings getting a webcam to talk to it and have almost cracked the upload of images to bream.org directly by the router. The test page is at www.bream.org/webcam if anyone is interested. The fun bit will be to have it running when I'm on the move. Unfortunately the router only works with a limited range of webcams, none of which are waterproof so I'll have to take it down each night until I've cracked that one. Steve NB Bream
